WEEE Regulations

Recycling your old electrical items

Intersport Elverys is a registered retailer of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and batteries, and a member of WEEE Ireland, the national compliance scheme. We are committed to helping our customers recycle old electrical items responsibly, in line with the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014 and the European Union (Batteries and Accumulators) Regulations 2014.

What this means for you

Free take-back of old electricals. When you buy a new electrical item from us, in store or online, you can return your old equivalent item to us free of charge on a like-for-like basis. In store, simply bring the old item with you. For larger items delivered to your home by our delivery teams (such as home fitness equipment), you can request collection of your old item at the time of delivery, just select the WEEE Recycling option with your order and have the old item disconnected, dismantled where needed, and ready to go. For smaller electrical items delivered by courier or post, you can return your old equivalent item free of charge to any of our stores, or contact our customer service team to arrange a return.

Free battery recycling. You can drop used batteries into the battery collection box in any of our stores. You don't need to buy anything to use this service.

Free recycling nationwide. You can also recycle old electrical items and batteries free of charge at your local civic amenity site.

Look for the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on electrical products and batteries. It means the item should never go in your general waste bin.

The price of electrical items includes a contribution to recycling costs, shown at the point of sale, which funds the safe collection and recycling of electrical waste in Ireland.
