Ideally players should transition from Soft Ground (autumn/ winter) to Firm Ground (spring/ summer) boots as pitches change and the ground gets firmer. Transitioning ensures ultimate comfort and protects against the possibility of injuries or foot problems. If choosing one style of boot then Firm Ground is favourable as weight will be more evenly distributed on a greater number of moulded studs or blades. However grip will be compromised on soft ground studs or blades will be shorter on firm ground boots. This may affect player performance.
